The winner of the 2015 MLK Memorial Foundation Scholarship is Chamille Maria Boyd, daughter of Jacquelyn Boyd and the late Michael Boyd.  Chamille earned a strong GPA of 3.89 at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, where she was a Piano Major.  She was also Vice President of Special Events for the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and Vice President for the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and she did this while maintaining A/B honor roll for the majority of high school career.   Additionally, she won numerous awards and recognition for her talent and academic success.  

Chamille volunteered approximately 300 hours with local non-profits such as the MLK Memorial Foundation, Habijax for Humanity, Teen Leaders of America and Friends of Brentwood Library, just to name a few.  She is a member of First Church Hopewell, where she has been actively involved in the church’s “Living 180” Youth Ministry, as well as its Youth Choir – SOLD OUT SOLDIERS (S.O.S.).  Chamille has a passion for serving Christ and contributing to programs and initiatives that support affordable housing, education, juvenile justice and performing arts. Chamille will attend Howard University this fall majoring in Chemistry in pursuit of her dream to become a  physician or veterinarian.
